Yet another chapter

You may have thought that our trip ended when we got home. That would have been true except for a little thing called a dream. Near the end of our time in Jackson we learned from Wayne that one of the things on their hearts was to build a recording studio. Before we left, that dream found its way into the ears of Peter Borne who helped turn that dream into a reality. First by drawing up plans before we left but then by being available as the volunteer crews built the wall structure in the old snack shack over the last 2 months.
This last Thursday, June 26th Peter, Clare, Aly, Sarah Berry (our seminary intern) and myself departed from the Twin Cities with a trailer full of equipment and supplies to complete the construction side of the dream. When we got to Jackson we were amazed to see all the work that had been done by the other volunteer crews. Painstakingly, they had constructed a space that looked exactly like the drawing Peter had done on April 3rd.
Over the course of the next 2 1/2 days we painted, laid carpet, sewed curtains, hung acoustic treatments, wired equipment, and installed doors. Occasionally we stopped to enjoy the finer things of Jackson including E & L BBQ (YUM!) and the newly opened Koinonia Coffee House (remember the place we prayed over? It’s open!) By Monday morning the dreams had become a reality bursting with potential as a new area of youth development and a tool to communicate with the world the hope of Jesus Christ for the John M Perkins Foundation.
Our time concluded with an amazing dedication ceremony that turned into church very quickly with Grandpa and Grandma Perkins leading us in Word and Praise.
